Turquoise jewelry should be worn carefully to avoid scratches on the stones. Do not store turquoise jewelry with harder gemstones or materials that might rub against the turquoise and damage it.
Turquoise is generally stable to light, but high heat can also cause discoloration and surface damage. It can be discolored by contact with chemicals, cosmetics, as well as skin oils or perspiration.
Turquoises can be cleaned best with warm water and non-detergent soap. It should never be cleaned with steam or ultrasonic cleaners. Dry immediately after washing with a soft cloth. Also avoid using commercial jewelry cleansers on turquoise.
